We independently research software for solo founders. We do not yet have any live affiliate partnerships — see our disclosure.
About

Built by people who were tired of generic "best tools" listicles.

Solo Tool Stack exists because most "best software for X" pages online are written to rank in search engines first and help a reader second. They're padded to 3,000 words, they recommend whichever tool pays the highest commission, and they rarely admit when a popular option is actually a bad fit for a one-person business.

We started this site as a small, independent publication with one rule: every recommendation has to survive the question "would we tell a friend this, even if there were no affiliate link at all?" If the answer is no, it doesn't get published.

Who we are

Solo Tool Stack is run as a small, independent editorial operation — not a subsidiary of a software vendor, marketplace, or venture-backed "media network." We are solo founders and former operators ourselves, and we write for an audience of one: the person doing sales, support, marketing, and product for their own business at the same time.

This is a new publication. As it grows, we'll add named bylines, credentials, and a longer track record to this page. Until then, treat every page as the output of a small editorial team rather than a large staff — and hold us to the standard set out in our methodology.

What we cover

We focus on the categories of software a solo founder is most likely to pay for in the first year of running a business: email marketing, websites and landing pages, payments and invoicing, accounting, analytics, and customer support. We'd rather cover six categories thoroughly than sixty categories shallowly.

How we make money

Like most independent software review sites, we intend to earn revenue through affiliate commissions on some of the tools we recommend — at no extra cost to you. Right now, this site has no live, revenue-generating affiliate partnerships. Category shortlists link out to each vendor's official homepage, not a tracked affiliate URL. We don't publish a full comparison guide for a tool until we've verified a direct partner relationship with a real affiliate link behind it. Full detail is in our affiliate disclosure.

Corrections and updates

Software pricing and features change constantly. If you spot something on this site that's out of date or inaccurate, please contact us — we'd genuinely rather fix it than leave it wrong.
